My above-average eye pressure needs monitoring, so I have annual check-ups with an ophthalmologist. My pupils are medically enlargened for the examination – and I’m unable to see well for what’s left of that day. I have to get eye drops every month from the chemist and the drops are tested on animals – something dreadful to me! Another ailment of mine is near-sightedness, and the drops make my eyes too dry to wear contact lenses for more than a short time in a day, so I have to wear spectacles, which I really don’t like to!
So could I do without these ailments? Certainly! There are many who have ailments which are much worse. And I’m sure you could do without your ailments too. Why treat only the symptoms when we can deal with the cause?
I’m in the course of uncovering my optimal life. Ailments such as the ones I’ve depicted above may have a few emotional roots that have been described by some self-help writers, but in the end, those ‘roots’ are actually just symptoms and there is a cause fundamental to all of that.
