Anyone who has had sinus headache symptoms will know that it is a bit like a misery to live with. There is a pressure feeling with one of these headaches and it can be located behind the eyes as well as other parts of the face. Tension headaches and migraines have a very similar feeling.

When located in the head and face area it can be like a throbbing pain. The area which is affected is behind the nose, cheeks and eyes where the air moves through and this becomes inflamed. The area which has become inflamed can be filled with mucus due to several types of ailments.

If there is a dripping or running nose and a low or medium type of fever with a sore throat this can be one of those ailments. Another is a heavy mucus discharge of green or yellow coming from a cold or another infection or congestion. There is often a feeling of being fairly unwell.

Other symptoms which may be apparent without the effects of a cold or flu may be more like a true sinus headache. These can also range from having a sore face which can be tender to touch, if bending over the pain will worsen, this will also happen when the head is moved suddenly. Often the pain will be worse when arising in the morning as it may be filled with mucus.

Sinus problems sometimes begin with a cold or when a cold has almost finished. The congestion which may still be evident could start the headaches off. There is sometimes aggravation of the condition when going out into cold air or leaving a warm room to enter a cold one.

Sometimes this problem may be caused by an allergy such as hay fever or an asthma problem. A person who may be prone to this affliction could have a flare up after diving or swimming. Bacteria find a blocked sinus a perfect place to multiply as does a virus and fungal infection.

When finding something that is used or eaten which appears to aggravate the infection then it might be worth steering clear of this particular thing. There could be something in the food eaten or in the environment which helps cause an allergy. Perhaps if a healthy diet is eaten with plenty of vegetables and fruit then the colds and flu which are part of the problem may be minimized and there may be less episodes of this type of headache.
